Brian Haire – Operation Boot Force— 51, single dad, disabled veteran, and caretaker in Florida.
After six years of homelessness, I founded Operation Boot Force to do what too many talk about — show up.

We put boots on the ground for homeless veterans, helping them reconnect with the VA, local resources, and even family.

This Thanksgiving, Operation Boot Force is out there again — serving warm meals and reminding every veteran they’re never forgotten.
Because no one who wore the uniform should face the holidays hungry or alone.

We’re not talking about it. We’re doing it.

Why We Call Everyone Crayons?

Because every crayon has a story.
Some are bright, some are worn down, some are broken — but every single one still colors.

We call everyone “crayons” because it reminds us that no matter what we’ve been through — service, stress, loss, or rebuilding — we still have something to give.
Different colors. Different experiences. One box.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about showing up, making your mark, and knowing that together, we create something stronger than any one color alone.

At Crayon Closet, being a crayon means you belong — exactly as you are.

Our Story

Community Healing

We're here for:

Crayon Closet started as a rebellious idea: what if we gave veterans and families a place to heal with truth instead of sugarcoating? What began as a handful of conversations has grown into a community where laughter, raw honesty, and purpose live side by side. providing the best possible service.

We're here for:

Community Healing

We're here for:

 Veterans

Peer-driven groups, raw conversation, and practical resources that remind you: you don’t have to carry it all alone.

    Spouses & Families

Because healing doesn’t stop with the uniform. We build spaces for spouses and families to be seen, heard, and supported.

    Patriots

“Stand with those who stood for you. Community starts with showing up.”

Honor, Support, and Serve

Crayon Closet was born from a simple truth:

Crayon Closet was born from a simple truth:

Crayon Closet was born from a simple truth:

Veterans and their families deserve more then empty words and broken systems. We're here to break the cycle of silence, despair, and isolation and replace it with community, connection, and raw honesty.

A small group of veterans, spouses and patriots realized too many were slipping through the cracks.

We didn't have all the answer but we knew someone needed to show up.

Conversations turned into connection, then into a vision: build a space where truth heals, not sugarcoats.

What Peer-For-Peer Support Means

Crayon Closet was born from a simple truth:

What Peer-For-Peer Support Means

 Peer-for-peer support is simple:
People who get it, showing up for others who get it too.

We’re not therapists.
We’re not clinicians.
We’re a community that listens, checks in, encourages, and walks alongside each other.

It’s conversation.
It’s accountability.
It’s “you don’t have to carry that alone.”

And it works because it’s real.

 We’re not therapists.
We’re not clinicians.
We’re people who get it because we’ve lived it.
